Winter Blaze 2018
Saturday, February 24, 2018

Winter Blaze 2018 will take us on a journey through Wonderland. The Emerald Queen Casino Showroom will be transformed with timeless details and decor. The event will commence at 5:30 pm, Saturday February 24th, 2018.  There will be a live auction, silent auction, dinner, & raffle prizes (winners will be announced that evening and must be present to win)

This event from year to year, has strived to be an evening of celebration and to raise awareness/funds for a worthy cause. Now, more than ever, we are seeking your participation. The Winter Blaze will benefit “The Goodtimes Project” as well as honor the hard work and dedication of the Tacoma Firefighters and the city we serve.

What is The Goodtimes Project? The Goodtimes Project is a 501c3 non-profit organization committed to assisting families affected by pediatric cancer.

What is Camp Goodtimes? Camp Goodtimes is a no-cost pediatric oncology camp for patients and siblings affected by cancer. The Goodtimes Project has welcomed over 240 campers a year from Alaska and Western Washington, ages 7-17, for two weeks of traditional summer camp, and a weeklong kayak trip (ages 18-25) put on by a dedicated staff of 200 volunteers and two paid employees. Camp Goodtimes is a summer camp located on Vashon Island.  During the 30+ years Camp Goodtimes has been in operation, it has helped meet the physical, psychological and emotional needs of thousands of young cancer patients and their families. The Goodtimes Project is dedicated to seeing Camp Goodtimes continue to provide this amazing experience.

Who is behind The Goodtimes Project? The Goodtimes Project is a passionate group of individuals touched by cancer and dedicated to making a positive difference. Their board is comprised of medical professionals, education professionals, financial and legal experts, current parents and volunteers. All board members are unpaid.

Why do we support The Goodtimes Project? We at the Tacoma Local 31 have partnered with this great cause since 2010. In that time we have helped to raise over $100,000.00 sending nearly 90 kids to camp at no cost to their families. We ask you to join us in bringing smiles, hope and fun to this camp of warriors that are the future of our communities. These brave families need a way to experience normalcy that for just that week, they aren’t kids with cancer, they are just kids.

We have now set the bar higher than ever. We need your help. Please consider partnering with Tacoma Firefighter’s Local 31 by sponsoring the event or donating an item or gift certificate that can be a part of the silent and/or live auction. All donations are tax deductible. Thank you for your generous support.
